IEEE-USA Experience

Co-founder and Co-chair of the IEEE-USA Entrepreneurial Activities Committee and the Entrepreneurs Village virtual community in 2005. Developed the EAC community and is assisting the PACE with web community development. Member of the IEEE-USA Innovation Institute Steering Committee.

Togneri has been a member of the IEEE-USA Intellectual Property Committee since 1988. As member, vice-chair and chair he participated in continuing activities to improve the position of engineers as inventors and entrepreneurs to maintain leadership position in the US as technology leaders and innovators. These activities included drafting new legislation, meeting with the legislative and executive branches of government in matters relating to trade, legislation, etc., direct testimony, and publications, such as “Intellectual Property and the Employee Engineer” one of the publications featured on the IEEE USA website. Received the IEEE USAB “Citation of Honor” in 1997.

In Industrial Instrumentation and Control industries since 1961 as an engineer, independent consultant, owner, manager, vice president, president, and outside director, designed products and systems, founded and managed the growth of entrepreneurial technology based companies with operations in North and South America, Europe and Asia. Currently a management consultant after retiring in December 2003 as vice president and group manager, responsible for a group of technology companies with sales of over $40 million and operations in U.S., Germany and Japan.

Holds a number of U.S. patents in the instrumentation field.

Extensive hands-on global expertise with General Management, Organizational Change, Marketing, Product Development, and Strategic Planning in mid size (10-100 million) manufacturing companies. Graduate Electrical Engineer. Senior Member of IEEE, ISA.

  • Over 30 years experience as president, or general manager of U.S. companies with R&D, sales and manufacturing operations in U.S., Europe and Asia.
  • Successfully grew several businesses faster than their market segments while consistently delivering profitable results.
  • In-depth expertise in technology combined with a wide knowledge of manufacturing organization, processes, systems (MRP, ERP).
  • Extensive background in developing, managing and integrating Human Resources worldwide in different cultural environments.
  • Developed an integrated approach to maintain customer awareness and focus on Quality across the entire organization.
  • Direct involvement in start-ups, acquisitions, integration and divestitures.

Hands-on experience acquired during senior management and technical assignments spans across a wide spectrum of industries and technologies.

  • 14 Years as Group VP at MTS Measurement & Automation a company serving the manufacturing and processing industries with sensors. Operating plants in U.S., Germany and Japan. Sales offices in Italy, France and China.
  • 2 Years as President of Crisp Automation, a subsidiary of Square D Corporation supplying computer control and data acquisition systems to the manufacturing, processing and utilities sectors. Responsible for marketing of control products in Europe.
  • 3 Years as President of Fife Corporation, a subsidiary of Rexnord providing web guiding equipment to the converting, packaging and steel industries. Full operations in U.S., Germany and Japan.
  • 13 Years as VP and President of Powell-Process System, Inc., a manufacturer of process control systems and instrumentation enclosures. Implemented manufacturing licenses with China and India.
  • Technical consultant to Aramco, Exxon, Sun Oil, and other producers, processors and suppliers to the Petroleum, Natural gas, Chemical and Petrochemical industries.
